Put your music in order

Crate identifies the songs in a messy folder, adds their tags and cover art, and files them by artist and album. It can copy them to an iPod, too.

How it works

Add a folder of music. Crate shows you what it found before it changes anything.

Identifies songs

Shazam listens to a few seconds of every file, so a file called Track 07 is no problem.

Finds the album

It looks up the album, track number and year on MusicBrainz and in Apple's catalog.

Adds tags and cover art

They're saved in the file itself. MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, AIFF and WAV all work.

Sorts into folders

Songs go into Artist › Album (Year) folders. By default Crate copies them, so your originals stay where they are.

Undo

Edit › Undo Organize puts the last batch back.

Watches a folder

Choose a folder, such as Downloads, and Crate sorts new songs as they arrive.

iPods

Plug in an iPod and it appears in Crate's sidebar. You can copy songs to it, or copy them from it to your Mac.

Privacy

Crate doesn't need an account and doesn't track you. To identify a song, it sends a short audio fingerprint, not the song. The Privacy Policy lists everything it sends.
